Black Lives Matter – Together We Stand!

We are BLACK PEOPLE!.. AND WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER!

We build … We don’t tear down other BLACK MEN and BLACK WOMEN!

We have felt the pain of being torn down and we have decided we will be deliberate about building others! All too often, we find it easier to criticize each other, instead of building each other up. Let’s build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down.

As Juneteenth is coming up this Friday, June 19th, we just wanted to provide a brief history on the significance of this day for Black people. On June 19, 1865, two and a half years after President Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation (became official January 1, 1863), Union soldiers landed in Galveston, TX and gave news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. The Emancipation Proclamation Lincoln had signed had little impact on the Texans due to the minimal number of Union troops to enforce it. When General Lee finally surrendered in 1865, and General Granger’s regiment arrived, the forces were finally strong enough to influence and overcome the resistance. This marked the true freedom of ALL enslaved people in America. It is important to celebrate this day, and remember that our people were illegally allowed to remain in bondage for YEARS after their freedom had been finally given to them. As Black people, we need to continue the tradition and celebrate coming together and celebrating life.

The current social movement is shining a light on the systemic injustices that we as Black people have faced for centuries. One of the most inspirational parts of the movement is the sudden increase in supporting Black History and Black-owned and operated businesses. We are taking a moment to recognize some of the best in the business that we love to support and work with. Next time you are planning your next corporate retreat, or searching the web for wedding vendors, be sure to include people who will diversify your vision for your event.
